Men's netball returns

Men’s netball is coming back to the EA Networks Centre again this Sunday, thanks to Mid Canterbury Netball.

Mid Canterbury Netball is putting on a session just for men, run by men, again the next two Sundays (July 28 and August 4) at 1pm at the EA Networks Centre.

There’s no cost, just come along, grab a bib and play. Local umpires Kevin Opele and Heath Lyttle have been spearheading the new men’s sessions this season, with the first held in May and the second in June, and are happy to guide newcomers through the key things they need to know.

If good numbers come along to the next two sessions, Mid Canterbury Netball is planning on putting on a third Sunday session, and inviting a men’s team from Timaru up to play and give our men a game.

So far the men’s sessions have attracted a range of men of different ages, with some having played before in Mid Canterbury Netball’s popular Formosa Summer League, while others have been completely new to the game and keen to give it a whirl.
