Registrations are now being taken for anyone from year 3, through to social and premier, wanting to play netball in 2024.

The winter netball season will officially kick off in term 2, with ACL premier beginning on May 2, the social grades (sponsored by Neumanns, Jennian, N B Chartered Accountants and TSG The Lock Shop) starting on May 8 after a NetballSmart/new rules night on May 1. Saturday’s Ashburton New World junior grades, and KFC/Bellissimo senior youth grades will begin on May 4, and the Midlands Y3-4 futureFERNS will begin on May 3 and run for the nine Friday nights in term 3, with there being no play Matariki weekend. There will also be no play on the Saturday of King’s Birthday Weekend.

All clubs and schools are now welcoming registrations and enquiries, and the two-week trials window where all premier/senior clubs must trial will run from Monday 4 March.

A number of clubs are also still on the hunt for coaches – this includes Thursday night premier teams, and Saturday afternoon senior youth teams, as well as junior teams. If you’re willing to lend a hand and coach a team this year then please contact Mid Canterbury Netball and we will connect you with a team – we also encourage people to look at micro-volunteering, where maybe they co-coach with another person, to help share the load. For schools and clubs, all team registrations for the winter season must be with Mid Canterbury Netball by April 2. Premier/social/Saturday/Future Ferns

Premier netball – starts May 2, finishes August 29

Saturday netball – starts May 4, finishes August 24

Social netball – starts May 8*, finishes August 9

Year 5-6 netball – starts May 4, finishes July 27

Year 3-4 netball – starts May 3, finishes July 5

Year 1-2 FutureFerns - starts July 25, finishes September 26
