Mid Canterbury's Senior A netball team headed to Waimate on Sunday in a bid to win the Hanan Shield for the third year running. Unfortunately it wasn't to be, with hosts South Canterbury taking it out.
South Canterbury took on North Otago in the first game of the day and won 69-39, before Mid Canterbury got their campaign under way with a 51-29 win over North Otago.
It then boiled down to South Canterbury and Mid Canterbury, and at the end of what was an up and down game, South Canterbury had the edge, taking it out 45-38 to claim the Hanan Shield.
Congratulations go to South Canterbury, and to our Mid Canterbury girls for an incredible effort.
The Mid Canterbury team will now regroup and prepare to head to Dunedin for the South Island Senior Championships on August 14/15.
