Ashburton is the main centre for Mid-Canterbury Netball.  We have a thriving netball community and play all our netball at the EA Networks Centre, where we have 4 courts inside and 2 warm-up courts outside.

Regular umpires and committee members hold sessions at the beginning of each season for clubs, individuals and juniors, should they wish to take advantage of these.  They discuss the rules, help with knowledge regarding the test banks and encourage and build confidence, for players who are nominated by their clubs to fulfil umpiring duties.  All of this helps to foster a culture of support within our netball community.

Our centre has produced some outstanding young umpires over the past few years who have attained their Netball NZ umpiring badges before moving off to tertiary education outside of Ashburton.

We've always been big on heart, friendship, support and enthusiasm and are always excited to have new umpries onboard.  We have a small but dedicated group of people who will do what they can to support and foster umpiring in our area and beyond.  We are looking for umpires, new and current, from all areas, genders and age groups to come and be a part of our club or just help out on the odd occasion.

We would like to encourage umpires from other centres to come and hone their skills on different types of games and unfamiliar players.  This can only serve to enhance and develop an umpires skillset. So, if this sounds like something that you would like to experience please get in touch with Mid-Canterbury Netball - we'd love to hear from you!
